Hunter's Survival Kit in a Paint Can

This Hunter's Survival Kit was one of my best selling paint cans when I had my gift basket business. This is a great  gift for hunters.
The camo on the outside is scrapbooking paper that i cut into a paint can template on glued on the can. You can also add a design on scrap paper with your printer.  Make sure you have a light background so it shows up.  It really looks good when you
laminate it.  I put the following ingredients in the can:

  •   a small can of repel
  •   a water bottle I labeled with a deer design
  •   small can of nuts
  •   bag of trail mix
  •   a dollar bill in a clear bag with  a label that read.... Sure way to come home with a buck.
This hunting survival kit was very popular with deer hunters.

Snowman Paint Can and Gift Ideas

Here is  a Snowman paint can craft project  I did for Christmas several years ago.
You can make a snowman face in psp or the graphics program of your choice. I used a snowflake background and put a poem on the back. I bought a pair of earmuffs and removed everything but the part you see and wired them to the paint can. Another idea would be to put the face on the lid. This paint can was really a hit with family and friends. You can fill it with gifts.

What do you fill it with? Here is what I put in mine:

  •  Carrot cake mix(the bagged cake mixes)
  •  Canned frosting
  •  Christmas towel set (snowman of course)

Let your imagination be your guide.

Using Diaper Bag as Gift Basket

I love putting together baby shower gifts. I did this diaper bag for a shower I attended today. After playing around with several ideas, I came up with this one.
The bear was pretty big, I put it in a gift bag but it just didn't look right...I finally decided to dress the bear with the onsie I had bought for the shower....I then took off the rattle that was on the bag and put it in the bears hand. Next the socks went into her lap. I put it in a cello bag and put " It's a girl" emblem in the center instead of a bow.  Wrap in clear wrap and you have the perfect baby shower gift for mom to be

Expecting Mom Paint Can

Gifts for baby boys are such a challenge. It seems so hard to   find unique baby gifts for boys  . Here is a paint can craft for a mom to be. It is blue which is great for boys (and girls too). The handles have blue beads. You can also add a finishing touch with a blue bow on the handle. When you decide on a pattern for your can.
Here are the instructions for making a paint can gift:

  • Carefully cut out the template for the gallon can.
  • Use a 1 inch paper punch to cut out the holes for the paint handles.
  • Line it up to fit the holes and punch. You will have the perfect half circle.
Use glue or double sided tape on the sides that have the handle holes.
  •  Position on the can before the glue dries..The double sided tape works best. It can be repositioned several times if you use much care.On the lid, use glue. Put it completely on the sides and make a big X in the middle. The sides will lay flat and there will be glue in the middle for extra hold.
  • Pack it full of gifts for new mom

Dog Treat Paint Can

This doggie treat paint can is the perfect dog lovers gift for family and friends. One of my friends has a dog that is like part of her family.  For Christmas one year I made her dog a personalized treat can.
It is made from a quart paint can and will hold milk bones and other treats that dogs love.  I put doggie potato chips in Maddie's can and she loved them.
A rolled up dog t shirt would be great to put in the can, and let the pet owner know it is a treat can after the doggie tee is removed.

Girls Baby Shower Gift Can

This is a paint can for a baby girl and makes a great baby shower gift. I took this picture so you can see the products inside. There are alot of items that can be added to a baby paint can. Some I have in this one are

  •   baby shoes
  •  a pacifier
  •  small bottle  of baby oil
  •  baby lotion
  •  baby powder
The outside of the can is done in pink gingham and has the graphic of a pacifier. There are so many items that can be put into cans for baby shower gifts. Onsies, bibs, infant t-shirts are just a few of the gift items that can be folded and placed in the can.
Laminating your can wrapper before putting it on your can really gives it a professional look. Just laminate on one side by putting the the back and front label together(print side out) and running through a laminating machine. You can then separate them and glue onto the can.

Easter Bunny Paint Can

Want a unique Easter Basket for your little one this year? Why not make one from a paint can. You can find templates for them on several websites. These are great for Easter egg hunts too.
Once you have your template, you can put an Easter graphic on it. Grass and a blue sky, ducks, bunnies, or you can put a face on it like I did. This one is simple to make in psp or other graphics software. I use double sided tape on each end and place it on the paint can.
Be sure to get the template for the circle top and put Easter graphics on it also. I bought a pair of bunny ears from a dollar store. Put them to the back of the can and push the ears up. These are a perfect fit on the cans. Fill with grass and fill with Easter goodies for your little one. This Paint can is sure to be a hit with any little girl.

Re Gifting Tip

An ugly word, but sometimes it just has to be done..all the bath washes, puffs, lotions, and sprays and other well intended gifts start to pile up after a while. This year I came up with an idea that I really liked. I took a big white basket and put excelsior in the bottom and put white tulle on top of that. I made a big red Christmas bow and put on the front of the basket....then I opened all the gift sets I don't need and placed them in the basket. This basket will serve as emergency gifts for the people we forget or surprise guests.
I also intend to give gifts from my basket to my daughters study group that comes weekly. They will be thrilled to choose a gift from our  Christmas basket. With the gift packs broken down, even the person who gave the gift wouldn't be able to detect it was theirs...a little tricky but at least the gifts are not wasted and everyone is thrilled when asked to pick a gift. A Children's basket can also be made for the little ones.

You can also visit Enchanted Designs for Holiday Gifts that will never be re-gifted..

Gift for College Students

Don’t limit your gift “baskets” to just wicker baskets.
For students heading to college, use a large clear container with useful items they can use in the dorm. Some suggestions include
  •  a clock
  •  plug in room deodorizers
  •  a throw rug
  •  small pillow
  •  towels,washcloths
  •  liquid soap
  •  picture frames
Roll the sweatshirt so the college name shows and put it in the front. This will be your focus item. You can add small items on the side that will show. Play with the items until you get the desired look.
Have a large container that is hard to gift wrap?  Buy a coordinating tablecloth ($1) and gather at the top with a rubber band (it will look like a ponytail.   Cut the excess you have a fluffy bow.
Check out our Teen Shoppe for great gift ideas for college students.

Congratulations Paint Can Gift

Gift Paint Cans? Yes, you can make a one of a kind gift from a paint can. I made this can for a friend, but you can make your own paint can template. Of course you will want to buy a clean paint can from a hardware store, then Google to find a website that has paint can templates. Some have designs that you can just print out. If you have a creative touch, you can design your own. Be sure to check our free printables for paint cans.
After you print your template, cut it out and use a glue stick or double sided tape on the side and place on your can. Design a top for the can by using a circle template. You can add many items to the can and then wrap in clear wrap.

At Christmas, I fill the my cans with a sugar cookie mix, a couple of cute cookie cutters, cookie sprinkles and a Christmas kitchen towel and hot pad. This makes a great gift to give a family.

Diaper Bag as Gift Basket

Here is a unique baby shower gift idea for girls , think outside of the box...or should I say outside the basket. There are so many items that can be used to present a unique gift. For instance, use a baby's diaper bag as the "basket". Fill with baby related items. Use the same technique you would with a basket, fill with paper and arrange gifts on top. Cover with cellophane and top with a ribbon and bow. This baby shower gift for the mom won't be duplicated.
Need some great items to fill your baby bag, or need a custom tote for the new mom, check out Our Children's and Baby Shoppe.
